Deep Dive Into Zen – 4 Tuesdays – May 5th – May 26 6 pm – 7:30 pm – Taught by Rebecca Otte, JDPSN and Richard Brown, SDT in Topeka, KS, this class introduces the basic concepts of Zen Buddhism and the different forms of practice – bowing, chanting, and sitting meditation. Our focus is on helping students to develop a regular practice that will help them bring wisdom and clarity into their lives. Presented only twice a year, the class will be a mixture of lecture, discussion, Q&A, and actual practice. Fee for the class is $35. Please register online. May 16 – One Day Retreat 7:30 am – 4 pm 1-day teaching retreat led by Rebecca Otte, JDPSN, for those who are new to zen or have only been practicing for a year or two as well as for anyone who is interested. June 12-14 – Two day Yong Maeng Jong Jin meditation retreat – This retreat begins Friday evening with special chanting, sitting and an encouragement talk. Orientation will be given then by the head dharma teacher. Saturday morning begins at 7am and continues through the day to 9 pm. Meals are provided and taken in a monastic 4 bowl style. Kong-An interviews with Rebecca will be held throughout the weekend. Fee for the retreat is $35 per day. You may sit one or both days. The retreat concludes with a precepts ceremony on Sunday.
