Due to the high level of community transmission of the Delta variant, Prairyerth is going to go back to doing practice only on Zoom for the time being. We are unable to maintain social distancing and we can’t guarantee that everyone is safe from the virus if we’re practicing together. We will resume in person practice when our community transmission moderates.

- September 5th: Lynn Shirley will be giving the dharma talk at the end of Sunday practice. Nancy Hedgpeth JDPSN will answer questions Following Lynn’s talk. Nancy is the the co-guiding teacher of Providence Zen Center. She started practicing zen in 1979 and received inka in 1994. She currently lives in Waterville Maine.
- September 7: First Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm – Introduction to Zen Meditation on Zoom. To register please email firstname.lastname@example.org
- September 19: Following Sunday practice, Max Contag will give the dharma talk from his home in Honduras!
- September 17-18: Two-day retreat. Details and registration
- October: There is no retreat in October.
- November 20th: One day retreat.

Zen practice is understanding our true nature. Before thinking, our true nature is always apparent, but, in our daily lives, we lose sight of it. We hold very tightly to our perceptions and our opinions. Practicing Zen meditation allows us to relax that tightness – opening ourselves up to this world. This is the beginning of Great Love, Great Compassion that allows us to help the suffering we see all around us. The practice includes prostrations, chanting, sitting and walking meditation. These practices, handed down from the Zen masters of old, are very effective in opening our hearts and helping us see into our true nature.
